It seems as though there are always new projects cooking. Check here for the latest news on linocut, illustration, publication, exhibition projects. You can also keep up with current news on my blog, Brush and Baren.
Underfoot
November 2009: Four recent linocuts in a new series are now posted in the gallery, with a fifth nearing completion. The Underfoot series includes a collection of intimate landscape views, compositions I discovered while spending a lot of time looking at my feet! (More than once I've run into trouble if I've continued to walk whilst looking up.) Keep checking back, as I plan to have at least a dozen images in this series before it's all over.
The Art House Sketchbook Project #4: Library
Sketchbooks offers a glimpse into an artist's life, which is why Art House Gallery wants to make a publicly accessible library of sketchbooks that people can browse, peruse, and check out. Art House believes that this sketchbook collection has the potential to open a new line of communication between the artist and the viewer, since the experience of making and viewing are both so personal. The library will house thousands of sketchbooks from artists that reside all over the globe. The collection will turn the United States starting in April, followed by a permanent location for the library in 2010.. Details here.
The Art House Sketchbook Project #3
"It's like a concert tour, but with sketchbooks." Art House Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia has organized an international sketchbook project around the theme "Everyone We Know." Almost 2800 artists are participating, and the books will tour venues in Atlanta, New York, Chicago, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Boston, and more throughout 2009. Details here.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
My friend Jim, over in Sleepy Hollow Country, has asked me to help him produce a special edition of The Legend, with black and white linocut illustrations. Yippee fun!
Rio Salida Press
In 2005 I started producing hand-built collections of my field and study sketches. Two titles are presently available, with a third in the works. They can be purchased through my Etsy Store, Rio Salida Art.
My first adventure in self-publishing, “Flora and Fauna” is a diverse collection of field and study sketches. Each individual book is made entirely by hand.
The second self-published book, “Living on the Edge” is a collection of field sketches made during a 2005 journey from Colorado to Holland and Maine and back. Each individual book is made entirely by hand and numbered in a limited edition.
