May 21-23, 2010
Using a mix of words, images and symbols, we'll build an event map of time spent next to the Arkansas River and Sands Lake State Wildlife Area. Explore all the ways water moves through this small area and trace the course of local flow as you encounter it. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own journal or sketchbook.
Registration information at the Colorado Art Ranch website.
As a perk for checking out my workshop listings, enter the coupon code LINOCUT on the registration form for $30 off the weekend tuition.

Tentative schedule:
Field sketching is a valuable tool for artists, scientists, gardeners, journalers, and anyone who wants to know more about the world around them. Even if you think you can’t draw a straight line, you can keep visual field notes. In this workshop we will cover several basic drawing and observation skills and techniques, including contour, memory, and gesture drawing. Non-artists welcome and encouraged.
Tuesday, July 13 or Thursday, July 15
Wildflowers and watercolors go together like peanut butter and jelly! But where to start? Spend a morning with us learning some basic techniques for manipulating watercolor paints, and watch your skills bloom!
Wednesday, July 14
Did you resolve to sketch outside in 2010 and are you still waiting to tick that one off your list? Are you ready to add to your drawing repertoire with color? Spend time in the field with us and fill some sketchbook pages through guided exercises and experiments. A natural follow-up to Field Sketching Basics, but not required.
Friday, July 16
Many people recall making block prints in grade school, but this humble medium need not have been abandoned after Grade 6! This half-day workshop will cover the basics of image design, plate preparation, and printing. Participants will edition a small one-color print. All materials provided and included in workshop cost.
